Years of Ups and Downs Working in the Asian Fast Lane` with Michelle
Kristula-Green, President Leo Burnett, Asia-Pacific, Advertising Agency
- Wednesday February 6th, 2008 |
|
`20 Years of
Ups and Downs Working in the Asian Fast Lane` with Michelle
Kristula-Green, President of Leo Burnett Asia-Pacific Region. This
short presentation will be followed by an open-floor Question and
Answer session, where Ms Kristula-Green will respond to questions posed
by audience members on the topic of their choice.
Michelle Kristula-Green is the current President of Leo Burnett
Asia-Pacific, one of the world`s best-known advertising agency brands
specialising in "icon brands", or "ideas that inspire enduring belief".
Michelle heads Leo Burnett and Arc Worldwide`s 18 offices, comprised of
almost 2000 employees in 14 countries. Before assuming the role of
President in February 2004, she was previously the first woman to run a
multinational agency in Japan, serving as President and representative
director of Beacon Communications, the highly successful partnership
with Dentsu. One of the only non-Asian agency heads to have proficiency
in both Chinese and Japanese, Michelle began her career at Leo Burnett
more than 20 years ago, and has worked in Chicago, Taiwan and Tokyo. In
addition to incorporating Dentsu into Leo Burnett, Michelle is known
for creating campaigns for Diet Coke, Minute Maid, Ricoh International
and McDonalds, and has worked with a wide range of local and
multinational clients, including airlines, packaged goods and
technology companies, helping businesses effectively localize global
brands and globalize local brands.
Michelle
is also known for creating pioneering thought leadership programs,
which translate across regions. Chief amongst these is `Voices at the
Bottom of the Pyramid`, an extensive study undertaken in China and
India, looking at the world of the low-income consumer and how best to
market brands and services to them. In a recent study by the Wall
Street Journal about the top women they believe to have the potential
to make a significant impact on business in 2007, the Journal included
Michelle in their list of "The Top 50 Women to Watch: 2006", referring
to her as the "most powerful woman in Asian marketing".
Michelle brings to this seminar a wealth of experience and insight into
advertising and marketing within the Asian market with some of the most
powerful companies and brands in the world. Take the opportunity to
come and listen to one of the most influential women in business today,
as well as `the most powerful woman in Asian marketing`, in an intimate
setting at Anaheim University`s Akio Morita Learning Centre, Minami
Aoyama, Tokyo.
The seminar will be held on Wednesday February 6th, 2008 from 7:30pm. There is no charge for attendees. |

Open Q & A with Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Nissan Motors
`Scientists and the MBA` with Dr. Julio Garcia, Invitrogen Technical Sales Director & AU MBA Graduate - Saturday September 22nd 2007
|
|
Nissan Motor Company CEO and
President, Mr Carlos Ghosn, engaged in an interactive Q&A session
with over 100 students and graduates of the Anaheim University Akio
Morita School of Business MBA program. The event was held at the
Anaheim University Akio Morita Learning Center in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo.
Special attendees included Anaheim University Chair of the Board of
Advisors, Dr Clive Grafton visiting from USA, the Mexican Ambassador to
Japan Mr Miguel Ruiz-Cabanas Izquierdo, and Vice President of Nissan
Motors, Mr Simon Sproule.
The seminar kicked off with a short presentation by AU Alumni member
and MBA graduate, Dr Julio Garcia, who gave a speech on `Scientists and
the MBA`. The AU Alumni thanks Dr Garcia for his preparation,
participation and fine presentation which is now viewable through the
media section of the AU Alumni website.
Mr Ghosn then took the floor, and during the Q&A session, fielded a
diverse range of management-related questions from MBA students from
over 20 different countries. Anaheim University students from outside
Japan who were unable to attend the seminar had the opportunity to send
their questions ahead of time by e-mail, and the event was recorded on
video and webcast over the Internet. This is also viewable as a special
feature for AU Alumni and students through the AU webpage.
According to Anaheim University Liaison Officer David Bracey, the event
was a great success. "Words don't express how pleased we were to have
Mr. Ghosn volunteer his time to share his experience as CEO of two of
the world`s largest automobile makers with our MBA students and
graduates. The way he connected with the students was remarkable and
Mr. Ghosn's ability to communicate across cultures made him the perfect
speaker for an event like this where we had students from all over the
world in attendance. It was truly an unforgettable experience for both
our students and graduates." Anaheim University MBA graduate Julio
Garcia concurred by saying "Having the opportunity to talk with Mr.
Ghosn and to ask him questions was a great experience that I will never
forget."
The Seminar ended with AU MBA Graduate and Alumni member, Ms Christiane
Aigner having a short private interview with Mr Ghosn, especially for
AU Alumni members. A transcript and video of this interview is also
viewable in the media section of the AU Alumni website.
The day ended with light refreshments provided by Coca-Cola (AU

In July 2007, Anaheim University MBA graduate Kenji Nakamura took time out of his travel schedule to visit Anaheim University. Kenji, who is the Operational Analyses Director for AMB Property Japan stopped by Anaheim on his way to visit AMB headquarters in San Francisco. Liaison Officer David Bracey and Chair of Anaheim University's Board of Advisors Dr. Clive Grafton spent the afternoon with Kenji. According to David Bracey, "Kenji has steadily become more and more successful since he graduated from the Anaheim University Akio Morita School of Business MBA Online Global track. We have been very proud to have Kenji as a graduate, and we have been extremely grateful for his support to the University. He has spent a lot of his time to help introduce our program to potential MBA candidates, so we were pleased to welcome Kenji and introduce him to the local area." While visiting Anaheim University Studios in Irvine, California, Kenji recorded a short webcast to his fellow alumni. Dr. Grafton and Mr. Bracey then showed Kenji a little of Orange County, California by having tea by the beautiful beach at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, and having dinner overlooking the Orange County area. Kenji said, "I hope more graduates who live outside the US like me have the opportunity to visit Anaheim. The landscape and atmosphere of Anaheim and Orange County is very impressive, and I think Anaheim students and alumni would enjoy learning how culturally rich, sophisticated, educational and attractive Anaheim is."
