In the special event business since 1973, Andrea Michaels — president of Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based Extraordinary Events — has seen the business grow from a little-known specialty to a full-blown profession. Often referred to by those in the know as the 'Queen of the Event Planning Industry," Andrea Michaels, four years ago joined by her son Jon Michaels, has produced logistically complex and visually memorable events all over the world--in Barcelona, Dublin, Cannes, Mexico, Germany, Japan and many U.S. cities.

They dig deep into local cultures to create authentic, exciting and unique events, immersing attendees in experiences that teach them about the city they're visiting, while ultimately giving them a fresh perspective on themselves, and their businesses. Working side by side, Andrea and Jon have since opened new offices in Germany and Indianapolis. The firm now employs 75 people around the world, and brings in between $13 and $16 million annually. Andrea's conceptualization skills, logistical savvy, and ability to produce the mega-event for thousands of guests is legendary. Each event presented to her is analyzed for its specific needs.
