Dr. Fran Byrnes has worked in the field of adult TESOL for over 30 years, in teaching and teacher training, and in the design and development of multimedia and online materials. Dr. Fran Byrnes received her Doctorate in Applied Linguistics from Macquarie University, Sydney. Her research interest and expertise lies in inter- and intra-cultural communication and in the theory and methodology of TESOL teaching and adult learning.
Ms. Keck received her MA in TESOL from Anaheim University and has served as the university’s TESOL Certificate instructor since July 2008, soon after the Certificate program began. In these roles, her duties include conducting daily instruction as well as assisting with creation and revision of assessment measures and multimedia course content. Ms. Keck has ten years’ experience teaching English, including teaching ESL students of various ages in the United States and Japan, and has conducted research into the effect of teacher questions on ESL high school classroom discourse. She has also studied Japanese as a second language in the US and Japan. Ms. Keck is a member of TESOL, the professional association for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
